Legendary 1950s-60s B-Movie Horror Director Roger Corman filmed this 1959 Horror Classic with the tag-line "A beautiful woman by day - a lusting Queen wasp by night". The film is a real hoot, great camp-fun with actress Susan Cabot as the aging owner of a famous cosmetic firm, who turns to a crackpot scientist for everlasting beauty. A natural answer, don't we all turn a scientist when we see a wrinkle now & then. Well, of course this wasn't a good decision on her part, the scientist apparently got his degree from the "Mad-Scientist School". The enzymes from the Queen wasps that the scientist used at first gives her great beauty but soon the nature of the Queen wasp comes to the surface and she is totally distorted with a giant Wasp-head (not what the cover shows which was the movie poster). Desperately she realizes that the only way to keep her beauty is to protect her serum, she turns to violence and death at night as the wasp woman. Of course, this was supposed to be a serious horror film but if you don't out right laugh over the "cheeseiness" of this 50s film something is wrong. Yea, it's a Classic, it's so bad, it's actually good. Those who love to laugh at those Ed Wood films should check this one out. Corman was right up there with Wood.
